This is the second in a series of interviews with Wright State University President Dr. Robert J. Kegerreis. In this interview, Dr. Kegerreis opens with a discussion of his first priorities as the newly-appointed President of Wright State University, including his assumption of the responsibility for the promotion of a medical school at Wright State University. He goes on to examine the status of community support for a School of Medicine in Dayton at the time he became President and the opposition to Wright State University planning that was encountered when the proposals went to the Ohio Board of Regents.

The second part of the interview is devoted to the activities of Dr. Kegerreis and others in securing the approval of the legislature for the School of Medicine plans. Included in this discussion are: the formation of the Northeast Ohio Medical School Consortium; the impact of cost overruns in the building of the Toledo School of Medicine; the opposition of the Governor to the Wright State University School of Medicine; and the support of the Dayton-area State Legislators to Wright State University's plans.

Dr. Kegerreis then turns to the arrival of Dr. John Beljan as the first Dean of the School of Medicine and his activities in developing the school. He discusses the importance of Veteran's Administration funding for the school and the importance of integrating the School of Medicine into the Wright State University community.
