This is the third in a series of interviews with Dr. Edward J. Spanier, former Assistant Director of Health Affairs Planning and former Assistant Dean for Administration in the Wright State University School of Medicine. He is currently serving as Assistant Vice President for Financial Services, and Treasurer of Wright State University.

In this third interview, Dr. Spanier focuses upon the search for and appointment of the first Dean of the School of Medicine, Dr. John R. Beljan, and the development of the School of Medicine after his arrival. Dr. Spanier discusses in particular his appointment as Assistant Dean for Administration under Dean Beljan, the organizational structure of the School of Medicine, recruiting for the School of Medicine, and the development of the University Medical Services Association.
