| Description: | In this second of three interviews, Dr. Robert T. Conley discusses the effort to gain approval of Wright State University's plans to develop the School of Medicine in Dayton. Dr. Conley first focuses on the support given by the Dayton medical community to Wright State University's efforts to gain legislative approval of the School of Medicine. In particular the endeavors of Dr. Richard DeWall are highlighted. Dr. Conley then continues his review of the struggle to win approval of the School of Medicine with an analysis of the political support for the School of Medicine. The importance of the support given by State Senator Clara Weisenborn and State Representative C. J. McLin and Paul Leonard is stressed. Dr. Conley goes on to explain his efforts to "sell the School of Medicine to the community" in Dayton and the Miami Valley area, and how this impacted upon his activities at this time as Dean of the College of Science and Engineering at Wright State University. The support of Dr. Brian L. Hutchings and Dr. Edward J. Spanier in assisting Dr. Conley in the planning and administration of the School of Medicine proposal is high lighted. |
