This is the first in a series of interviews with Mr. Douglas R. Durko, Associate Dean for Hospital Affairs in the Wright State University School of Medicine. In the first part of this interview, Mr. Durko discusses his background prior to coming to Wright State University and his first work for the Wright State University School of Medicine as Assistant Director of the Greater Miami Valley Subregional Organization for Health Manpower, Education and Training (SOHMET). He then goes on to discuss his departure from the School and his subsequent work with the Miami Valley Health Systems Agency.

In the second part of this first interview, Mr. Durko talks about his return to the School of Medicine as Assistant Dean for Hospital Affairs. He describes his activities as Assistant Dean and his responsibilities for interaction with the area medical institutions affiliated with the School of Medicine. Mr. Durko focuses primarily upon contract negotiations and the scope and content of the affiliation agreements between the School of Medicine and the area hospitals.

In the third part of the interview, Mr. Durko analyzes one of these affiliation agreements in depth. He discusses the Ambulatory Teaching Facilties [sic]Agreements and the subsequent establishment and development of the Frederick A. White Center for Ambulatory Care.
