This interview focuses on the priorities of School of Medicine development; perceptions of Dean Beljan; the School of Nursing controversy; and the appointment of Dr. Beljan as Vice President for Health Affairs and then University Provost. Dr. Kegerreis first discusses the recruiting of department chairs; the building of the Medical Sciences building; the hospital affiliations; and recruitment of volunteer clinical faculty. President Kegerreis then analyzes how Dr. Beljan was perceived at the state level, by the community, and the University. The controversy with the Nursing School and philosophical differences are examined followed by the appointment and tenure of Dr. Beljan as acting Provost. |
