The photograph shows children dressed as Uncle Sam and Miss Columbia riding in a run-about cart in the parade during the 1909 Wright Brothers Homecoming Celebration. The children were pulled by a small black pony and the run-about cart had an American flag draped over the back with a Bald Eagle on top. Uncle Sam was played by 12-year-old Russel Storck and Miss Columbia was 10-year-old Florence Lane. They were riding ahead of the postal clerks in the seventh division of the parade. A crowd lines both sides of the street to view the parade in a residential area of Dayton, Ohio.
