dc.description The image shows a Native American dance being performed by actors in the parade through Dayton during the 1909 Wright Brothers Homecoming Celebration. The performers were part of the parade which showed the history of locomotion in America. This section of the parade began with a birch bark canoe and ended with a model of the Wright Flyer. At the reviewing stand, where the Wright Brothers sat, the Native American performers demonstrated a war dance. All of the floats for the parade were sculpted by Joseph Horchert and designed by Henry Kabierske. Kabierske, of Fischer and Sons in Philadelphia, also designed most of the decorations for the event. Spectators are lining the streets and behind them is a sculpture of a lion. Leo the lion was the mascot for Steele High School and was created by sculptor Anna Vaughn Hyatt Huntington. The Leo the lion statue is currently located at the Dayton Art Institute. en_US
