The image shows a covered wagon, with passengers dressed as settlers, in the parade during the 1909 Wright Brothers Homecoming Celebration. The covered Conestoga wagon was part of the History of Locomotion in America section of the parade held on Friday June 18, 1909. The History of Locomotion in America section of the parade featured various modes of transportation starting with the Birch bark canoe and ending with the Wright Flyer. Printed on the cover of the wagon is "Pittsburgh to Dayton in 14 Days". The wagon is pulled by two grey horses and printed on the harness of one horse is, "W. C. Meredith." A crowd lines both sides of the street to view the parade in a residential area of Dayton, Ohio. All of the floats for the parade were sculpted by Joseph Horchert and designed by Henry Kabierske. Kabierske, of Fischer and Sons in Philadelphia, also designed most of the decorations for the event.
