| dc.description |
The image shows a float that features a model of a railroad parlor car which was created by the Barney and Smith Company. The float showed a modern parlor car entering a tunnel with passengers staged in the back of the car, as well as, on the back deck. The car is numbered 217 on the side and has a stained glass window in the back. The float was being pulled by horses through a residential portion of downtown Dayton, Ohio. This float was part of the history of locomotion in America section of the parade which featured floats representing various modes of transportation during the 1909 Wright Brothers Homecoming Celebration. This section of the parade started with the birch bark canoe and ended with a model of the Wright Flyer. |
