The photograph is of George Beatty flying a Wright Model A Flyer low over the field at the Harvard-Boston Aero Meet which was held in Atlantic, Massachusetts from August 26 through September 4, 1911 and was sponsored by the Harvard Aeronautical Society and the Boston Daily Globe. Beatty had a number five painted on the bottom of the plane and a number five is on the tail to identify his aircraft during the meet. Buildings are in the background as well as spectators and a biplane parked on the field. |
