The photograph is of Thomas Sopwith flying a Bleriot monoplane with the number seven on the tail at the Harvard-Boston Aero Meet which was held in Atlantic, Massachusetts from August 26 through September 4, 1911. The meet was sponsored by the Harvard Aeronautical Society and the Boston Daily Globe. Sopwith was given the number seven to identify his aircraft during the meet. |
