| Abstract: | The polymerization of the 2,3-bis(2fluorophenyl)-5-hexyl-1,4bis(chloromethyl)benzene employs a modified Gilch procedure using t-BuOK and 4-tertbutyl benzyl chloride as a capping agent to control molecular weight. Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) data indicates that the effect of the capping agent is limited. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) indicates 5% wt. loss temperature of 400C. The addition of orthofluorines on the two phenyl rings of 2,3-bis(2fluorophenyl)-5-hexyl-1,4bis(chloromethyl)benzene, is expected to change the emission and PL efficiency of the corresponding polymer.
