Title: Teddy Bear Wellness
Author: Grogg, Jennifer
Abstract:

Teddy Bear Wellness is a nursing student designed and implemented program for children ages 5-7years. The program is offered as a summer camp in collaboration with the Office of Pre-College. Children are socialized into the career of nursing in an action packed, fun-filled week of structured activity. Teaching and learning theories guide learning. Concepts of altruism, infection control, safety, and excellence are reinforced with Care Coins, Glogerms, Emergency Day, Graduation and of course, Teddy Bears! Wright State Interdisciplinary teams include Campus Security, Campus Recreation, Wheel Chair Basketball Team, and Anatomy lab. Community Partners include Children's Medical Center and Fairborn Fire Department. Area school systems support scholarships for disadvantaged youth. The poster presents a photogallery of the children having fun with Teddy Bears while learning the art and science of nursing.

This presentation occurred at the Wright State University Campus-Wide Celebration of Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities on April 16, 2010
